I bought mine from a local dealer, after reading about this new model from a popular mechanics article and award, but I think my review may be useful to others here. The setup of the generator is very easy and only took me two minutes. Generac includes your first maintenance kit with the generator (this comes in handy, I will explain later.) I got my generator about a two weeks before Wisconsin (where I live) got hit with a huge blizzard 24" of snow and 40mph winds with -5 F temps. We lost power for almost 24 hours - my wife, who was very annoyed that I bought this unit just before the holidays, changed her tune greatly when our house was the only one on the block with heat and christmas lights running. The Generator performed great the entire time. Since Generac includes the maintenance kit I didn't have to run aroud trying to figure out where to buy the oil filter as the unit needs to have oil and filter changed... Read more 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful Works well & appears to be built to last, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Generac 5778 XG4000 4,500 Watt 220cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit (Lawn & Patio) Pros:Sturdy (appears to be built to last), relatively compact to store, easy to move around, relatively quiet (see sound level measurements below), delivers above rated continuous power, engine starts right up, built-in power meter is handy, hour meter, GFI breakers, engine oil & extra air filter included. The price included the shipping and the shipping via freight was straight-forward. Cons: Instructions say that the unit arrives with no engine oil; however when I added less than 1/2 of a quart of oil it overflowed from the engine. Engine occasionally backfires after it is shut down. I have not used this unit too much yet, but did try to bring it up to max continuous load with 3 hair dryers advertised at 1200 W, 1500 W, & 1600 W. Could definitely hear the engine strain a little as the load was increased, but it handled the full load just fine. The noise from the generator was somewhat quieter than a small push mower.
